Museum van Loon is locted at Keizersgracht 672 in Amsterdam. The house itself dates from the 17th century, but the Van Loon family took residence in the 19th century. Their history is closely linked with the history of Amsterdam. Several Van Loons were mayors of Amsterdam, others had important functions at the Dutch East India Company. Thora Van Loon-Egidius was the last resident of the house. She was 'Dame du Palais' of Queen Wilhelmina (who reigned from 1898 until 1948) for forty years.
