Ferry company Wagenborg sails from Holwerd in the province of Friesland to Ameland. The ferry sails to the small town of Nes.

You reach Holwerd through Leeuwarden, or from the east, through Groningen and Dokkum. Follow the signs 'Ameland'. If you do not wish to bring your car, you can park it at the parking lot near their Ferry harbor. If you do wish to bring your car to the island of Ameland you must reserve a ticket in advance. Reservations for passengers are not necessary. Your reservation is only valid provided you make yourself known at the ticket counter a minimum of thirty minutes before departure of the ferry.
