Ferry company Wagenborg sails from Lauwersoog in the province of Groningen to Schiermonnikoog. You reach Lauwersoog from the direction of Assen, via Groningen ring road east. From the direction of Leeuwarden you take the ring road until exit Hardegarijp/Groningen. Next you take the exit Dokkum and follow the signs Lauwersoog. If you come from the direction of Drachten, you first follow the signs Dokkum and next Lauwersoog. 

The island of Schiermonnikoog is a nature reserve. Cars, mopeds and motor bikes are only allowed on the island with special permission from the local council. You can park your car close to the ferry harbor. Ferry tickets cannot be reserved in advance.

Duration/frequence

The crossing to Schiermonnikoog takes about 45 minutes. The ferry usually sales four times a day.
