Leiden

The old city centre of Leiden boasts a wide variety of shops. In quaint alleyways you can find all sorts of high quality retail. Evidently, a university city needs a wide choice of bookshops and Leiden provides both new and second-hand shops on many subjects. Moreover, every Wednesday and Saturday there is a general market along the banks of the Rhine. This market has been in existence for 9 centuries.

Gouda

More than 400 shops of many varieties, tastes and sizes are to be found in the compact city centre of Gouda. Most shops are open 6 days a week, with Thursday evening offering late-night shopping. A shop guide of Gouda directs you to roughly 30 unique city centre shops, and can be picked up free of charge from the tourist office by the market.

Dordrecht

Walking along the 1200 meter long Voorstraat in Dordrecht is an experience! It is said to be the longest, car-free shopping street in the Netherlands. Here you find all kind of shops, from antiques to fashionable clothes, books, design or flower seeds. The Statenplein forms the heart of the shopping centre and is also the location of the weekly market on Friday and Saturday. Small shops with trendy articles, antiques and curiosa can be found in streets as Groenmarkt, Grotekerksbuurt, Voorstraat and Vleeshouwersstraat. On Thursday evenings the shops open until 9 pm and every last Sunday of the month is 'funshopping Sunday'.
