Experience Holland in a unique way by walking along its beaches and through the dunes. Whether the wind is blowing or the sun shining, you'll find shelter in the dunes. Don’t forget to bring along your binoculars, as you will see plenty of birds and wildlife.

Walking along the beach
The beach is not only attractive when the sun shines. Have you ever walked on the beach with a westerly wind billowing around your head, blowing up the fine sand, the waves splashing and foaming? Why not start your walk from one of the many seaside resorts and return through the dunes. Inquire at the local VVV (Tourist Information Office) about the various possibilities.

Walking through the dunes
Holland has a long coastline with a spectacular dune area behind it. Follow one of the many winding paths through the dunes for a relaxing walk. The dunes are quite fragile and need to be protected. This explains why some areas are closed to the public. Signs or fences mark these areas. In some places you may have to pay a small fee to walk through the dunes. The VVV (Tourist Information Office) in the various seaside resorts can provide detailed information on the various routes.

Walking across mud flats
Walking across the mud flats means walking across the bottom of the Wadden Sea. Mudwalking, or "wadlopen," is an exclusively Dutch phenomenon. During the various walking tours, you’ll become acquainted with the mud flats, the tidal marshes, sandbanks, plants and birds. You may even see a few seals. The organisations offering mudwalking have a number of different tours to choose from, ranging from three to five hours.
