Arnhem is situated in the green province of Gelderland, in the east of Holland. Whether you like shopping, art, going out, walking or cycling, Arnhem has a great deal to offer to make your stay an unforgettable one.

A bridge too far
Arnhem's location near the border of Germany, played a pivotal role during the final days of the Second World War. To find out more about the scale of devastation caused by the German bombing and the events that inspired the film 'A bridge too far', visit the 73 meter high Easebius Tower that dominates the skyline of Arnhem. From here you will have a great view over the city and its green surroundings.

Historic Cellars
Underneath the Rijnstraat in Arnhem, a network of historic cellars can be found. Recent renovations mean that the 12th and 13th century cellars are now open to the public. Guided tours take you through this unique maze and give you more information about their existence.

Shopping city
Arnhem is the fifth largest shopping town in Holland and it lives up to its name. The historic atmosphere makes it an attractive place to go shopping. The main shopping streets and attractive alleyways offer a wide selection of fashion houses, specialist shops, boutiques and various shopping centres.

Green heart
Arnhem has several attractive historic city parks. A former country estate, Park Sonsbeek is Arnhem’s largest and best well-known park. It is great for walking, cycling and generally watching the world go by whilst relaxing on a bench and enjoying the great views. Bordering Park Sonsbeek is Zypendaal park. Its impressive castle in the heart of the park, is well-worth a visit.

Nightlife
After a shopping spree, climb to the top of the Eusebius tower or walk through the maze of cellars, what better place to go than the Korenmarkt. This large square in the centre of Arnhem is surrounded by nice restaurants and bars and as soon as the sun is out, you'll find many pavement cafés here.

For a night of theatre and music, you can choose between a visit to the small historic 'Posttheater' or the larger 'Stadsschouwburg'. Take a quick glance at the local listings and you'll be spoilt for choice.
