Zeeuws Archief Middelburg
Benthem Crouwel Architects 1994-1999
Hofplein 16
Middelburg
The new archives of the Zeeland province are housed in an historic city center building designed in 1765 by J.P. van Baurscheit. The renovation project by Benthem Crouwel Architects has placed the offices in the restored parts of the building. In the garden, a triangular pavilion has been created (as a tribute to the typical shape of Middelburg gardens) with a clear glass front housing the reception area, the exhibition and reading rooms and the bar. The reading rooms, in the large central void, are connected to three underground storeroom floors.
