Development cooperation

Holland is one of the few countries that actually spends the international agreed 0.8% of its Gross National Product on development cooperation. The main aim of its policy is poverty reduction and sustainable development. Holland is making a great effort to achieve the Millennium Development Goals in 2015, and is focusing on education, HIV/AIDS, water, the environment and reproductive health care. It also wants to help promote good governance and a better business climate in developing countries. Africa plays an important part in Dutch development policy, as does the relationship between conflict and development.
