Day 1
Amsterdam is a charming city, which is best viewed from the water! Cruise the canals and see Europe’s largest historic city center with nearly 7000 monuments from the 15th through the 19th century with Canal Company’s canal cruise. You’ll also find that Amsterdam is a sparkling city, especially when you visit one of the factories of the Amsterdam Diamond Group. At the diamond factory you can see how diamonds are polished, but you can also shop for sparkly gifts. Shopping makes you hungry, so afterwards you can enjoy Dutch sandwiches and soups at cozy canal side restaurant 't Buffet van Odette & Yvette. Refreshed, shop ‘till you drop at the luxurious Bijenkorf department store or the Magna Plaza shopping mall. Both shopping havens are close to the Royal Palace and central Dam Square. Looking for something vintage? Browse at the antique shops in the Spiegelkwartier and stop for a drink at one of the typical Dutch 'brown' cafes. Cafe ‘t Smalle on the Egelantiersgracht is perfect example. Try a typical Dutch spirit called ‘jenever’. At the end of a long day, enjoy great food at ‘D’Vijff Vlieghen’ a restaurant comprised of five historic 17th century houses. After dinner retire at the renowned and luxurious NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky overlooking the Royal Palace.
Day 2
On your second day in Amsterdam, enjoy one of the walking tours through the charming and quaint Jordaan area. Stroll along the famous floating flower market and further increase your tulip knowledge by visiting the Tulip Museum and learn all about the Dutch tulip craze in the 17th century. Across from the museum is another must-see: the Anne Frank House. It still is the number one place to visit in Amsetrdam. Only a few steps away, lunch will be waiting for you at Werck, a contemporary restaurant housed in the former carriage house of the Wester church. From there a tram will take you to the Rijksmuseum, The Masterpieces to see Rembrandt's famous 'Night Watch'. For even more art visit next door neighbor Van Gogh Museum to see Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. Get an early dinner and sample the famous ‘Indonesian rijsttafel’ at restaurant Tempo Doeloe. Amsterdam's nightlife offers something for everyone. Enjoy a concert at the world’s busiest concert hall, the internationally renowned Concertgebouw. End the day with a night cap and some sleep at NH Barbizon Palace Hotel.
