Hotel Arena is situated in the former St. Elisabeth building, a city monument alongside Amsterdam's historical city centre. It was built in 1890 and first used as Roman-Catholic orphanage. Later it became an old age home, and in the 1980's a youth hostel. In 1999 a series of renovations were begun and it was upgraded to a 3 star hotel. A number of noted designers participated in the renovation, and the result is a modern but character-full building.

Hotel Arena is centre of both international and local culture and activity. The accent is upon hosting cultural events, and the facilities consist of a hotel, bar, restaurant, club, and conference rooms. These are called respectively Tostay, Todrink, Todine, Tonight and Tomeet.

Tostay
The division of the former cloister halls resulted in 127 rooms; all decorated in a minimalist style with design classics, wooden floors, and warm colors. Each has a bathroom, telephone and television. Options such as Playstation 2 can be provided on request.

Todine
The restaurant breathes a warm and intimate atmosphere. Serving original international dishes in addition to traditional Dutch ones, TODINE is the perfect place for a luxurious and comfortable dinner.

Todrink
The spacious and colourful café and adjoining veranda offer an amiable setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cocktails and tapas are also available. In the summertime the two large terraces are open to anyone who likes to enjoy a meal or drink in the sun.

Tonight
Located in the building's former chapel, TONIGHT is a spacious yet intimate beautiful club, consisting of two dance floors where locals, tourists, and hotel guests meet. The varying program offers a mix of international DJ's and different theme evenings. During the daytime the halls are used for business and cultural conferences.

Hotel Arena is easily reachable both by car and by public transport. Parking on the premises is available.
