Origins of Modern Art from the Hermitage Amsterdam

Hermitage Amsterdam
Spring through fall 2010
The Hermitage Amsterdam not only houses historical art, but also modern works from the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. During this period, mainly private collectors used to collect these objects d’art. After the 1917 October Revolution, many works by Matisse, Braque and Picasso, among others, ended up in The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. The exhibition 'Origins of Modern Art' in the Hermitage Amsterdam presents a wonderful selection from this stunning collection.
