Tulip excursion

The new tulip excursion in the Netherlands has appeared to be a success. Tulip grower Siem Munster started last winter with a complete new attraction in Holland, the tulip excursion. This excursion offers a unique possibility to have a look at Holland’s most famous flowers the period that there are no other possibilities to see tulip flowers (starting with Christmas time, ending beginning of May). During the trial season 2008/2009 guests from all over the world were welcomed by the farmer’s wife Sandra. Tourists from the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Indonesia, Italy, Spain, Australia, Austria, Germany and Holland were excited about the beautiful flowers, the different species and colors and the labor intensive production process of the tulips. This coming season the first tulips will be ready around Christmas time, which will also be the time that the tulip excursion starts the guided tours. Tulip excursionThe Munster nursery grows over 7 million tulips in its greenhouses. During the excursion the guests will have a guided tour through the greenhouses where they will see over 1.000.000 tulips in different growing stages, from just above soil until bloom. There is an explanation about the growing process of the tulip bulbs and flowers and the way they are prepared to bloom in winter time. During the guided tour guests will enter the greenhouses, cooling stores and the bunching room to experience the complete production process of the tulip. The greenhouses are located in the northern part of North-Holland, just along the Highway A7, between typical Dutch hotspots like Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans and the 32 Km long dam starting in Den Oever. The guides in the greenhouses speak English, German, French and Dutch. Groups are welcome 6 days a week, upon reservation, minimum 20, maximum 50 persons, the entrance fee is only € 6,- per person.
