Francis Alÿs at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

At the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam  from September 2009 through April 2010, work of Francis Alÿs will be shown.

Alÿs (1959, Antwerp, Belgium) trained as an architect. Towards the end of the 1980s he moved to Mexico City. His many walks through the center of this metropolis provided the inspiration for many of his works. His oeuvre comprises performances, videos, drawings, paintings and sculptures. Alÿs developed his work in a range of cities, including New York, London, Lima, and Jerusalem. His targeted actions call into question society and the place of art in society. Alÿs is a contender for The Vincent Award 2010.
