From 8th through August 22nd 2008, the harbour area is again the place to be for the free Seize the Night film festival. Becoming a mini-tradition, the idea behind this festival is to show films that have not (yet) been seen in Dutch theatres, in the open air. The programme includes national and international films and documentaries which have been worldwide hits at international film festivals. International audiences will enjoy this free festival because all the films will be in English or carry English subtitles. Thanks to last year’s huge success, the festival is now being extended to two locations. The first part will be from 8th through 16th August 2008 at the Stenen Hoofd on the southern side of the IJ harbour.
The second part of the Seize the Night film festival will be from 16th through August 22nd at the slipway of NDSM wharf on the northern side of the IJ. There will be an encore of the festival from 23rd through August 27th in Studio K on the Timorplein, ending in a spectacular closing party. The films will be shown from 9.30 p.m on a giant screen measuring 12 by 7.5 metres. Seize the Night is an ideal summer evening out. Drinks and snacks are available from 4.00 o.m.
