The show presents an intriguing look at four centuries of garden and landscape architecture in Europe using original design drawings, contemporary photographs and films as well as maquettes. The summer of 2008 will see Apeldoorn hosting the first International Garden and Landscape Triennial,
a hundred day show about culture, gardens and landscape which is due to be held every three years.
Paleis Het Loo is taking part in 2008 with a presentation of forty original European garden and landscape designs dating from 1600 to the present day. The focus of the exhibition is the different kinds of drawings, some of them worked out on a monumental scale in terms of colour and decoration, while others are small scale sketches or have been created using modern techniques. All of them have been chosen for their conceptual and artistic merits. They reflect the hand of the designer using a variety of presentation techniques.
