Water is a complicated natural resource, one that gives us both joy and anxiety. There is either too much of it or too little or it’s too polluted. Water is also a problematic issue in Holland, where the winter often brings the threat of flooding and the summer a shortage of water.

Interactive museum
The Netherlands Water Museum is a contemporary and interactive museum about all aspects of fresh water in both Holland and worldwide. It is a real hands-on museum, where you can take a trip through a sewer system, watch an impressive film about water and learn all there is to know about dike management, drinking water, groundwater and water usage in both Holland and the rest of the world.

Floating water
More than fifty interactive presentations show how locks and pumping engines prevent flooding, how you can make water float, how our sewer system works and how people manage water resources around the world. In the water laboratory you can conduct all kinds of tests with water. The museum is a real hit with kids, if only for the water playground (free admission) next to the Brasserie…
