Historic cities light up at night, Delft & Gouda

Delft and Gouda take on a fairytale appearance as they are lit up at night on December 16. The Gothic town hall of Gouda is lit with hundreds of candles. A special choir creates a festive atmosphere as the Christmas tree lights are switched on at 7pm. The rest of the evening is dedicated to participating in a range of Christmas activities, and sampling a mug of delicious hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine (Glühwein).

Delft will be celebrating its 11th “Lichtjesavond”, featuring a dazzling display of illuminations. At 7pm precisely, the lights of the 18-meter high Christmas tree will be lit in spectacular fashion. Visitors to Delft can soak up the wonderful Christmas atmosphere, courtesy of the many Christmas stalls, performances and music celebrations.
