This year, Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam celebrates its 150th anniversary! All the more reason to visit this modern zoo in Rotterdam. Various events and activities are being held for both young and old during the anniversary year – and of course it always fun to watch the monkeys and enjoy the beautiful underwater world in the Oceanium.  To mark the anniversary, Blijdorp is organising a major public event, the Journey Through Time, that will allow you to relive 150 years of Diergaarde Blijdorp. At a number of historic locations around the zoo, visitors will be taken back in time to experience the fascinating history of Blijdorp.

The highlight of the jubilee year will be the opening of the new polar bear house, which will allow visitors to also admire the animals under water. The bears’ new accommodation is expected to be ready at the end of 2007. Also at the end of the year during Christmas Holidays the whole area will be the scene of a special Midwinterzoo.
