Eight operas live from New York City in the Pathé Tuschinski

During the period of 15 December 2007 through 26 April 2008 eight opera productions will be shown live from New York City in the Pathé Tuschinski. Pathé cinema is proud of their collaboration with one of the most distinguished opera houses in the world, the New York Metropolitan Opera. Using High Definition digital projection, opera-lovers will have the chance to experience a live production by some of the most famous and talented artists of this time. The series begins on 15 December with Romeo and Juliet from Gounod, followed by productions including Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck on 1 January and Verdi’s Macbeth on 12 January. The live broadcasts are matinees in New York. Taking the six-hour time difference into account, most performances will take place between 17:30 and 19:30 in the Netherlands. Following in the spirit of the 2007 theme year Amsterdam: Feel the Rhythm - music & dance, Pathé promises guests a truly unique performance series, bound to impress even the most seasoned of opera fans.
