Zocher was asked to design a lovely park for the city of Amsterdam. He came up with an English-style park with winding paths, ponds and alternating wooded and open areas. The park was very popular among the well-to-do people in the area from the start. Later, the labourers from nearby districts discovered the park as a great place to spend their leisure time.
