Beurs van Berlage

The Beurs van Berlage: a historic venue in the very heart of Amsterdam
The only building in the centre of Amsterdam with the capacity to accommodate an audience of some 2000 people is within easy walking distance of Central Station. The Beurs van Berlage has a number of different sized rooms that are ideally suited for congresses, seminars, product presentations, receptions, dinners and other events. The recently renovated rooms in the Beurs van Berlage are also particularly suitable for cultural gatherings such as lectures, concerts and exhibitions.
The Beurs van Berlage was commissioned by the city of Amsterdam and designed by the architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage. The building was officially opened on 27 May 1903 by Queen Wilhelmina, and was originally intended to function as a commodity exchange. The building was particularly striking in the way the decoration drew one?s attention to the construction of the building itself rather than the decoration hiding the actual construction of the building, as was the case with so many other 19th century buildings.
Today, the Beurs van Berlage is a monument of international architectural renown, and functions as the venue for a wide range of events. The north part of the building, where the most noteworthy rooms are the Yakult Hall and the Amvest Hall, is managed by the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation and is run by Beurs van Berlage Concert & conference halls. It is the home of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. The Amvest Hall, the Exchange Foyer, the Essay Hall and the Yakult Hall each of which has its own distinctive atmosphere are ideally suited for concerts, congresses, dinners, celebrations, displays, receptions and other events. It goes without saying that the Beurs van Berlage Concert & conference halls has excellent facilities and catering services.
