Since 1682, the country estate has been used as a hunting lodge by Stadholder-King Willem III. In 1895 the estate was purchased by Jacob Theodoor Cremer, President of the Netherlands Trading Company. He commissioned the well-known architect J.J. van Nieukerken to build the largest private residence in the Netherlands. In 1996 a modern conference centre has been built compromising 5 multifunctional conference rooms with a maximum capacity of 250 persons in the Amsterdam Room, 4 break out rooms and a business centre. In 2002 a new hotel wing has been built near the conference centre, where 44 modern hotelrooms, restaurant ?t Princenbosch and fitness- and saunafacilities are located. In the country house itself there are 31 hotelrooms and 4 beautiful period rooms all in their original English character. The period rooms can accommodate some 160 people for elegant dinners. Our ? la carte restaurant ?De Vrienden van Jacob? is situated in the former ?summer? living room of the Cremer family?s country house.
