If you have a second day to spend in Amsterdam, here are some ideas to make the best of your time.
The Amsterdam Tourist Board (VVV) has several walking tours available to explore the city: Amsterdam's city center, Jewish city walk, city walk through the Jordaan neighborhood, and the Maritime city walk.
Visit another outstanding museum, de Rijksmuseum, and see Rembrandt's famous 'Night Watch,' or stop at the Modern Art Museum (Stedelijk Museum) or the Amsterdam Historic Museum.
Amsterdam's nightlife offers something for everyone. Enjoy a concert at the internationally renowned Concertgebouw and stop for a drink at one of the 'brown' cafes on Leidseplein square.
The Jewish Historical Museum is a complex of four synagogues and was built by Ashkenazi Jews in the 17th and 18th centuries. The synagogues were central to Jewish life in Amsterdam until the devastation of World War II left them vacant and unused. Displays of art and religious artifacts depict Jewish culture and the history of Judaism in Holland.
The flea market stalls at Waterloo Square (plein) sell anything from African bedspreads to Indonesian jewelry, Balinese woodcarvings, second hand and army-surplus clothing.
The Flower Market, on the Singel canal, west of Muntplein, is the last of the city's floating flower markets. The displays of fragrant seasonal flowers and bright spring plants are a joy to look at and to smell!
Go shopping for antiques in the Spiegelkwartier antique area or visit the P.C. Hooftstraat or Kalvertoren on the Kalverstraat with its exclusive shops.
