Rembrandt House Museum, Amsterdam
April 1 - July 2, 2006
Rembrandt - Quest of a Genius will be on show at the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam from April 1 to July 2, 2006. More than 50 paintings will plot Rembrandt's artistic journey through life. The exhibition is part of the 400th birthday anniversary year of the world-famous Dutch master.
Rembrandt, the gifted searcher
Throughout his life Rembrandt sought new ways of bringing his work to life. After completing the Night Watch and the death of his wife Saskia, Rembrandt spiralled into a personal and artistic crisis. Rembrandt - Quest of a Genius is an exhibition that depicts how Rembrandt ultimately found new artistic avenues and solutions. The spectacular changes in his style made him one of the major modernizers in art history.
The exhibition compares Rembrandt's early and later work. Visitors can track Rembrandt's brilliant quest from more than 50 paintings plus dozens of drawings and prints. Many top items track back to the places where Rembrandt produced them almost four centuries ago.
Coming highlights of Rembrandt 400
