Marieke van Os is one of the founders of Like-a-local,an organisation that provides travellers with opportunities to connect with local life in big cities, so they can act, eat and sleep like they live there. www.like-a-local.com. My favorite day is Saturday. I start with a jog on Java Island, where I live, proceeding over the Jan Schaeferbrug. I continue to work up a sweat along the Oosterlijke Handelskade on my way to the cosmopolitan KNSM Island.I have breakfast at home, enjoying fresh bread from Hartogs bakery. After an energetic morning, I like to relax with a cup of fresh mint tea at the restaurant and bar Bazar. It's got a pleasant multicultural atmosphere and a beautiful, colorful interior. At the end of the day you can often find me at De Groene Olifant, a neighbourhood pub on the east side of town with lovely outdoor tables and excellent little snacks. For a gourmet evening. My favorite is dinner under the stars at Voorbij het einde . If I eat too much , I can roll, since it's my neighbour.
